ITINERARY
Day 1: CUSCO CITY TOUR
You will have the morning at your leisure before we pick you up for the city tour of Cusco, at 13.45 pm. First, we will visit Qorikancha (The Temple of the Sun) and the Convent of Santo Domingo as well as to several of the city’s impressive archaeological ruins such as Sacsaywaman, Qenqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay. Our tour will finish at the main square. At this time, you might like to enjoy a tasty dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants. Alternatively, we can arrange to drop you off at your hotel. Just tell your guide what you are in the mood to do.

Day 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas – Ollantaytambo - Chincheros
We will have breakfast and leave for the Sacred Valley of the Incas at 8:30am, where you will see the little town of P’isaq including its local market with handcrafted goods and plaza. We continue our journey along the side of the Vilcanota River to Urubamba where you will have a lunch buffet. Next, we travel to Ollantaytambo to the Inca archeological remains. We will then head back to Cusco via Chincheros, another tourist center and colonial town, to visit the church and plaza. We return to Cusco at the end of the day and you will spend the night in your hotel.

Day 3: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA - SORAYPAMPA
After we pick you up at your hotel at 2:00 am, 4-hour-drive in private transport to Soraypampa (3850 m.a.s.l). In Soraypampa we will have a delicious breakfast to start our day well before beginning our trek. Here we will get together with our horsemen and horses that carry the camping equipment. After a 3 hour trek we will reach the highest point of our expedition, The Salkantay Pass (4.600 m.a.s.l.). From there, we walk down towards Wayracpunku, to have our next meal. Afterwards, the journey will continue going into the high jungle where we will observe large trees with their arms stretching out over the streams, all filled with bromeliads and orchids. This trek will last around 5 hours to reach our campsite in Chaullay where we’ll have dinner and rest.

Day 4: CHAULLAY – LUCMABAMBA
After having breakfast around 8:00 a.m., we will go by bus to Lucmabamba. From there we will walk up to the Llaqtapata ruins in about 2 hours and after a short break we descend for another half hour to the Llaqtapata lodge. We will have lunch at this amazing location with a breath taking view of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu and free time for the rest of the afternoon to relax, explore the area or go horse riding. Then we will have a traditional Peruvian dinner and have a good night’s rest to prepare for the following day. More info Llaqtapata click here
Day 5: HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES
The next morning, after a good breakfast we start the descent for about 1.5 hours to the river Ahobamba where the bus awaits us. Those who reserved in advance will do zip lining or go to the hot springs near Santa Teresa. The rest of the group will go to meeting point of Hidroelectrica where the entire group joins for the lunch after the activities. After some relaxing at this spot, we will continue walking along the train track that is leading through this great jungle that the Inca knew by heart to our final destination: Aguas Calientes. We walk for about 3 hours and you will encounter beautiful waterfalls, different Eco farms and possibly wildlife curious of your arrival in the region (arrival set for around 4:00pm). Here the group will spend the night in a hostel. At night we all will get together in a local restaurant to enjoy a great dinner and have a briefing about our next excursion to Machu Picchu. Then you are free to visit the city, which is wonderful after sunset.

Day 6: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
We get ready around 4:00am to climb to Machu Picchu, the trek will follow an ascending path crossing the high jungle, just in time to see the spectacular sunrise. After passing the control entrance around 6:00am our group will have a private guided tour for 2 hours in the Inca citadel, later passengers will be free to enjoy Machu Picchu on their own. Late in the afternoon, according to the departure time of the train, the group will descend walking to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Ollantaytambo where everybody will be picked up and transferred to Cusco. The group has to be at the train station at least 30min before departure. The Salkantay Trek finishes on the main square of Cusco.

Day 7: End of tour
You can enjoy breakfast at your hotel before a driver transports you to the airport for your departing flight or bus station as you head to your next destination. Breakfast
