Day 1: Cusco – Soraypampa
The group will be picked up at the hotels to travel by bus for 4hrs. Later we will reach Mollepata, where we will get together with our horsemen and horses that carry the camping equipment. In this area it is possible to see the beautiful snow-capped peak of Salkantay. Afterwards we will hike for 4hrs. ascending the mountain Saillapata, at this point we will have our lunch. After lunch we will walk until reaching our next campsite Soraypampa, around 5:00pm.
Day 2: Soraymapa - Chaullay
Early in the morning we’ll have our breakfast and then will begin a 3hrs. trek until reaching the highest point of our expedition, The Salkantay Pass (4.600 mt.). From there, we walk down towards Wayracpunku, to have our next meal. The journey will continue going into the high jungle where we will observe large trees with their arms stretching out over the streams, all filled with bromelias and orchids. This trek will last around 5hrs. to reach our campsite in Chaullay.
Day 3: Chaullay – Santa Teresa
After having the breakfast, our trek will start descending through several ecological zones of nature, made up of a variety of wild trees, orchids, bromelias, etc. This part of the trek is one of the most beautiful parts. After 5hrs. of trekking, we will reach a zone called La Playa, where we will have lunch. Later our bus will take us for 45min. to the town Santa Teresa to camp. Along the way we will have the opportunity to visit the hot water spring of Cocalmayo or just to explore the surroundings of town. At night we will set a bonfire with all the members of the expedition.
Day 4: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes
Early in the morning the group will have breakfast, after which we will walk for 3hrs. The path is surrounded by abundant vegetation and impressive mountains, our next goal will be the Hydroelectric, where we will have lunch, and after a short break we will continue trekking for aprox. 3hrs. until arriving at the town Aguas Calientes. The group will be taken to the hostel and at night we will all get together for dinner. Obs. On this day there’s an alternative path to visit the archaeological complex called Llantapata for an extra charge.
Day 5: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
This time we will get up around 4:00am and leave at 4:30am, heading toward the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, walking approximately 1 hour and a half. The goal is to see the sunrise from the Inca site and be the first to arrive. Then we will take in the beautiful Machu Picchu with our professional guide, finishing the tour with some free time for you to explore.
After visiting Machu Picchu, we walk towards Hydroelectric where our bus waits (3pm) to return to the city of Cusco, arriving around 9:30/10:00pm.
Note: There is possibility to spend one more night in Machupicchu town paying $30 extra, and return next day.
