Day 1: Cusco City Tour – Surrounding Archeological Sites
We will pick you up from your hotel and begin your 4 hour city tour including being guided through the Convent of Santo Domingo, then move on to additional archeological sites located just outside of Cusco such as Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay. We will return back to the city in the evening, dropping you off in the main square or your hotel.
Day 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas – Ollantaytambo - Chincheros (B,L,D)
We will have breakfast and leave for the Sacred Valley of the Incas at 8:30am, where you will see the little town of Pisaq including its local market with handcrafted goods and plaza. We continue our journey along the side of the Vilcanota River to Urubamba where you will have a lunch buffet. Next, we travel to Ollantaytambo to the Inca archeological remains. We will then head back to Cusco via Chincheros, another tourist center and colonial town, to visit the church and plaza. We return to Cusco at the end of the day and you will spend the night in your hotel.
Day 3: Soraypamp – Chaullay or Collpapampa (B,L,D)
Our travels will take us to drasrically changing nature from dry scenery to snowy peaks and tropical turf. First, we ascend to the highest point of Salkantay trek, located halfway between two huge mountains of Salkantay and Tucarhuay. From this view the two snow-capped mountains are breath taking. After lunch, we will hike to the our campsite.
Day 4: Chuallay - La Playa - Santa Teresa (B,L,D)
We weill walk through the upper jungle crossing the Lluskamaya River and a variety of little brooks to reach La Playa. Today, you will have wonderful scenery of all types such as waterfalls, tropical fruits, plants, birds and wildlife. After La Playa we go through Mollepata to get to Santa Teresa where we set up camp in a warmer climate. After resting we go to the Santa Teresa hot springs and enjoy the well-deserved soothing hot water.
Day 5: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes (B,L,D)
We leave our campsite from Santa Teresa and cross the Santa Teresa Bridge, passing a variety of crop plantations including cocoa, bananas, papaya, and other fruits. We`ll have lunch and trek about two and half hours along the road until reaching Aguas Calientes. You will have leisure time to spend the day as you please, resting in your hotel, relaxing in the local hot springs, hiking the small trails around the town, or exploring the many restaurants and shops Aguas Calientes has to offer.
Day 6: Full-Day Machu Picchu (B,L,D)
After an early breakfast we will begin our 1 hour ascent to Machu Picchu on foot or by bus (passengers choice). You will meet your guide at the entrance to start your 2 hour guided tour and afterwards you will have freetime to explore on your own. Later in the day, after lunch, we will board a train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and be transfered to Cusco by bus.
Day 7: End of tour (B)
(Optional) You can enjoy breakfast at your hotel before a driver transports you to the airport for your departing flight or bus station as you head to your next destination.
