During the trek to Choquequirao and the city of Choquequirao, you’ll see one of the final strongholds where the Incas showed great resistance against the Spanish invasion. Itinerary

ITINERARY

Day 1 CUSCO – SAN JOSE DE CACHORA – CHIKISKA – PLAYA ROSALINA

We will pick you up at the hotel at 6:00 a.m. to go by private transport to San José de Cachora (3 hours), where we begin the hike. The first section of the climb is up to the area of Chikiska. After lunch, we descend to our first campsite on the banks of the Apurimac river, known as Playa Rosalina.
Note: On this day we walk between 5 and 6 hours depending on the speed of the group.

Day 2: PLAYA ROSALINA – SANTA ROSA – MARAMPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO

After an early breakfast, we will begin an intense day of hiking which will also be very rewarding. The path takes us to the top of the mountain to Marampata (3000 m.a.s.l.), where we will have lunch and regain energy which will allow us to reach the summit of Choquequirao (3650 m.a.s.l.). Here we will rest for the night hopefully witnessing a beautiful sunset from our comfortable tents and a tasty dinner.
Note: This day contains 10kms of walking.

Day 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO – SANTA ROSA – CHIQUISCA

We will begin the day at 5.00 am where, after breakfast, we will visit the archaeological complex of Choquequirao, the most important and furthest point of this excursion. After the visit we have some time to explore and enjoy lunch. Then we will continue our hike up to Chiquisca where we will have dinner and overnight for our last camp spot.
Note: This day will contain about 5 hours of hiking.

Day 4: CHIQUISCA – CAPULIYUC – CACHORA – CUSCO

After breakfast, today’s activities start at 7.00 a.m. for the final part of the trip. There will be one last viewpoint that we hike up to, called Wayna Qalli. From here we will be able to appreciate the Apurimac River Canyon rated by many as being the most spectacular in South America. Completing the journey, we arrive at the town of San José de Cachora where we will have lunch and then our transport will bring us back to Cusco. We will arrive back at around 5:00 pm.
Note:The days walking will take about 3 hours.
